Walter Benjamin's cartographic method
a proposal for communication research
Keywords:
cartografia, Walter Benjamin , comunicaçãoAbstract
The objective of this study is to present a proposal for a cartographic method of communication research inspired by concepts developed by Walter Benjamin. We start with the following question: what conceptual foundations guide this approach and how could cartography, understood in its methodological sense, be applied in research in the field of communication? In the first part of the study, we point out the relevance of the cartographic method for the area. Next, we present the concepts that underlie Benjamin's cartographic thinking and suggest a methodology based on three stages: deambulation, archeology and montage. Finally, we highligh points of convergence and divergence about the application of this method, taking into account issues that affect contemporary studies in communication.
