Secrecy and (in)visibility management in times of deep mediatization
resistances, revelations and appropriations in masonic organizations

Under the theme of organizational communication, we aim to understand the movements that Freemasonry performs to manage its (in)visibility. For that, we have used theoretical elements of mediatization and the notions of visibility and secrecy. In methodological terms, we have mobilized secondary data from research carried out by Vinhola (2021) and analyzed them using the trends of deep mediatization listed by Hepp and Hasebrink (2018). The main conclusion is that, between what gives in or resists in relation to the strength of deep mediatization trends, the organization makes new appropriations, forming its own (in)visibility regime.
